In his gospel, Saint Mathew talks about three wise men from the East who arrived to Jerusalem and asked where the newborn king of the Jews was. They said they had been guided by his star and they wanted to adore him. The same gospel tells us that, when they entered the house and saw the baby with Mary, his mother, they knelt and adored him. Then they opened the chests that they had brought with them and offered him their presents: gold, incense and myrrh. Who were these men? Nobody knows it for sure. Maybe they were astrologists from Babylonia or Persia. The gospel does not say that they were kings, but the presents they gave to baby God were actually royal presents. |
